Back in 1882, the founders of Saskatchewan’s largest city
pitched their tents on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River,
searching for Utopia. Today, as you sip cappuccino in a cafe in the
trendy Broadway shopping district, jog around the campus grounds,
or watch Shakespeare under a circus tent you’d have to say
they succeeded in heir quest.
Saskatoon has a drive, a spirit that captivates all who visit.
It’s a busy hub of commerce and industry, home to many high-tech
and mining companies. Yet Saskatoon as a laid-back charm and warm-heartedness
that transforms and enhances its cosmopolitan hustle and bustle.
City of Saskatoon Half Day Tour
The tour of the beautiful city of Saskatoon starts with a tour
of the Meewasin Valley Centre to hear the history of our city. The
tour of the city features a drive through the University of Saskatchewan,
and by Innovation Place and the Mendel Art Gallery. We will drive
along the scenic South Saskatchewan River. Much of the city’s
appeal comes from the river running through it. The South Saskatchewan
Lures cyclists, roller blades and Sunday strollers to the scenic
paths along it’s banks. Travel through the Meewasin Valley
and visit downtown Saskatoon.
Tour of University of Saskatchewan
One of Canada’s most beautiful campuses. Handsome Greystone
buildings in English Collegiate Gothic style, spacious well-treed
grounds, museums, galleries and interesting sites. This tour will
take in the Museum of Antiquities, the Museum of Natural Sciences,
the Little Stone Schoolhouse and the Kenderdine and Gordon Snelgrove
Art Galleries.
Arts and History
Mendel Art Gallery has works of contemporary and historical art
on exhibit throughout the year. The Saskatchewan Craft Gallery exhibits
high quality craft objects, featuring works by Saskatchewan and
Canadian crafts people in all media including clay, fibre, wood,
glass and mixed media. The Ukrainian Museum of Canada’s
historical exhibits interpret the early settlement and culture
of the Ukrainian
people, and include costumes, embroidery, Easter eggs and other
folk art. This tour is a fine mix of Canadian art and history.
Historic Broadway Walking Tour
Broadway Avenue is the oldest street in Saskatoon and home to many
charming shops and remnants of the early history of the city. We
will take a walk down Broadway with a guide in period costume of
1883. You will hear the exciting and humorous history of the area.
After the tour you will have a chance to stop for coffee or take
in some shopping.
Saskatoon Berry Farm
Visit a 40-Acre Saskatoon Berry orchard overlooking the beautiful
South Saskatchewan River. Pick your own Saskatoon Berries or buy
them picked for you. Enjoy the provincial award winning, “The
Berry Barn” Gift Shop & Eatery where you can taste an
extensive line of Saskatoon Berry foods and purchase wide range
of quality country craft and gift items. Sample the Riverbend Plantation
preserves, which are made on the farm.
Indian Heritage/Pioneer Spirit Combination Tour
This full day tour begins at the Western Development Museum where
you will tour the Museum’s 1910 Boomtown. More than 30
buildings portray community life - from the General Store to
the Blacksmith
shop. Displays include antique cars, transportation artifacts
and vintage agricultural equipment. The afternoon will find you
at
the world-renowned Wanuskewin Heritage Park. The park was toured
by Queen Elizabeth when it was designated a National Heritage
Site. On the trails you can see archeological digs in the process.
The
natural amphitheatre and outdoor activity area are the sites
for dances, theatres, songs, storytelling and demonstrations.

Come camp where people have camped for thousands of years. Relive
the early life of the Plains people at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
Stay in our tipi village and share the early morning sounds of
the valley, prepare your meals outdoors, learn about plants and
animals, hear traditional story-tellers, learn early hunting methods
and much more.
Shopping Tour
Shopping in Saskatoon can be an exciting and rewarding experience.

Ferme Champetre Farm
A visit to the FERME CHAMPETRE FARM is like going back in time.
The spirit of the Wild West sets the scene for a relaxed atmosphere
in open surroundings, a “deja-vu” of cowboys and horses
while Nature continues unveiling her majestic beauty. Your tour
will include a hayride, a wonderful lunch or dinner, legend telling
and the famous Kangaroo court.
Agricultural Tour
This tour begins at the University of Saskatchewan. We will see the
research station for crop production and the animal barns. From
the University we will go to a nearby grain farm and stop by the
Cargill Canola crushing plant at Clavet. We will end our tour with
a tour of the Great Western Brewing Company.
Children’s
Tour
Beaver Creek Conservation Area - a conservation area with interpretive
Centre onsite, displays, selfguided trails and special programs.
This is an accredited Watchable Wildlife site. After Beaver Creek
we are off to play at Kinsmen Park. Kinsman Park is a family-oriented
park with merry-go-round, miniature Ferris wheel, and train. As
well as a play village and paddling pool adjacent to the rides.
Bike Tours/Walking Tours
Meewasin Valley Trail is approximately 19km of trail following both
slopes of the South Saskatchewan River through the heart of Saskatoon.
Rest stops, picnic areas, barbecue sites, playgrounds, lookouts
and interpretive signs along the way. |
